How to improve the service life of deep groove ball bearing

2020-08-13

Deep groove ball bearing is an important part of modern mechanical equipment, and is the most widely used type of bearing. Its main function is to support the mechanical rotating body, reduce its friction coefficient in the process of motion, and ensure its rotation accuracy. With the increasing demand for bearings, premature failure of bearings, short life and other problems perplex every mechanical enthusiast.

Under a certain load, the number of revolutions or hours that deep groove ball bearing experiences before pitting corrosion is called bearing life. The bearing within this life should have initial fatigue damage on any of its bearing rings or rolling elements. However, in our daily use, it can be clearly observed that under the same working conditions, the actual life of bearings with the same appearance is quite different. What causes this.

1、 Improper installation (about 16%)

1. When installing, the force is too strong, and the damage caused by hammering the bearing is the biggest; it is also the main cause of deformation.

2. Installation deviation or not installed to the bearing position, resulting in too small bearing clearance. The inner and outer rings are not in the same rotation center, resulting in different concentricity.

Suggestion: select appropriate or professional bearing installation tools, and use special instruments to test after installation.

2、 Pollution (about 14%

Pollution can also lead to premature failure of bearings. Pollution refers to dust and metal chips entering the bearing. The main reasons include: premature opening of bearing package before use, causing pollution; unclean working environment during installation, resulting in pollution; unclean working environment of bearing and pollution of working medium.

Suggestions: it is better not to unpack the bearing before use; keep the installation environment clean during installation; clean the bearing to be used; strengthen the sealing device of the bearing.

3、 Poor lubrication (about 50%)

According to investigation, poor lubrication is one of the main reasons for premature bearing failure. It includes not filling lubricant or lubricating oil in time; not filling lubricant or lubricating oil in place; improper selection of lubricant or lubricating oil; incorrect lubrication method, etc.

Suggestion: choose the right lubricant or lubricating oil, and use the correct lubricating filling method.

4、 Fatigue (about 34%)

Fatigue failure is a common failure mode of bearing. The common causes of fatigue damage may be: Bearing long-term overload operation; not timely maintenance; improper maintenance; equipment aging, etc.

Suggestion: select appropriate bearing type and replace fatigue bearing regularly and timely.
